He was born in 1970 in Ngor, a small Lebou fishing village in Senegal. He learned to play the guitar and began writing his own songs 1. In 1996, Loy Ehrlich (who has worked with Touré Kunda, Youssou N'Dour and Geoffrey Oryema, to name but a few) spotted his talent and helped him record his first two cassettes, intended for the Senegalese market (Xarrit Taffa and Mbaryi). Since 1998, Diogal has lived in France. He has collaborated with Lokua Kanza, Louis Winsberg, Loy Ehrlich, Didier Malherbe, Daby Touré... Diogal is an author, composer and performer. He composes and sings, in Wolof, songs at the crossroads of the traditional sounds of his country, Senegal, and contemporary Western music. After releasing two cassettes in Senegal (Xariit Taffa and M'bar-yi), Diogal went on to release two albums in France, Samba alla and Liir (Célulloïd\/Mélodie), both acclaimed by the press, supported by FIP and appreciated by professionals.
