Nicknamed \"The Singing Buckaroo,\" Downs went on to become a popular national entertainer, working shows such as the Houston Jamboree alongside George Jones and Sonny James and became part of Eddie Kirk's Hollywood Caravan. By the mid-1960's Eddie Jo had signed with Capitol records and started developing a reputation as a talented songwriter, writing a big hit for Faron Young (\"An Occasional Wife\") and one of his own (\"Nothing But Time\") which entered the top ten of the Billboard charts in 1965. In the late 1970's he formed a band called \"The Electric Horsemen\" and toured the country with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams Jr..
