Named from the Greek for violet; chiefly from India, Sri Lanka, Madagascar and Tanzania.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eCare\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBrittle, with distinct cleavage: it chips and splits more readily than its hardness suggests, so protect it from knocks and skip ultrasonic and steam.
