Muddler Minnow
The Muddler Minnow is one of the most iconic and versatile streamer patterns ever created, designed to imitate sculpins, baitfish, and other small forage species that trout and salmon aggressively feed on. Originally developed by Don Gapen in 1938, this classic fly remains a staple in fly boxes around the world.
Built with a spun deer hair head and natural flowing profile, the Muddler Minnow pushes water effectively while creating lifelike movement in current. It can be fished on the surface, swung through riffles, stripped like a streamer, or weighted to target fish holding near the bottom.
Effective in rivers, streams, and moving water with moderate to fast currents, the Muddler Minnow is an excellent searching pattern for aggressive trout, salmon, and other predatory fish.
