A level 2 bit, meant for temporary use. The twist concentrates pressure along the edges, which gives a horse that has gone dull or heavy in a level 1 snaffle something to answer. It is a tuning bit, not a working one — once the horse responds, put him back in a level 1. Sweet iron encourages salivation as it oxidises. Dee rings sit flat at the corner of the mouth.
