How To Install Braided Loops
Braided loops provide a quick and easy way to add a loop connection to fly lines that do not already have one. The braided sleeve works much like a tiny “Chinese Finger Trap” — the harder it is pulled, the tighter it grips the fly line. (Fishing The Fly)
Installation Instructions
-
Cut the Fly Line Tip
Trim the end of your fly line at a slight angle to make insertion easier. -
Slide the Sleeve Back
Move the clear sleeve tubing up the braided loop and out of the way. -
Insert the Fly Line
Feed the tip of the fly line into the hollow rear opening of the braided loop. -
Work the Line Forward
Using a gentle pinch-and-slide motion, work the fly line up inside the braided braid until it reaches near the loop section. (Fishing The Fly) -
Apply Glue
Place a very small drop of waterproof super glue or flexible adhesive near the end of the braid. Do not overapply. -
Slide the Sleeve into Position
Pull the clear sleeve back down over the glued section so it overlaps both the braid and fly line. -
Finish the Connection
Trim any excess braid if needed and allow glue to dry completely before fishing.
Tips
-
Use only a small amount of glue. Excess glue can create a stiff connection. (Fishing The Fly)
-
Braided loops create smooth loop-to-loop leader connections.
-
Excellent for replacing worn welded loops on fly lines.
-
Available in multiple sizes for different fly line weights.
