About Dolomite
Dolomite is a common carbonate mineral named after the French geologist Déodat de Dolomieu, the same man the Dolomite mountains in Italy are named for. It occurs in white, grey, pink and warm brown tones.
In crystal tradition dolomite is thought of as a calm, steadying stone. It is fairly soft, about 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale, so it carves well.
Care
Dolomite is a soft stone. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth and keep it away from water, acids and hard knocks.
A Note on Your Selection
Each animal is carved by hand from natural stone, so the colour and markings vary from piece to piece and from the photo. You receive the animal you choose, in a colour chosen for you. If you would like a particular colour, leave a note at checkout and we will do our best.
