How to Use It

Light the tip, let it flame for a few seconds, then blow it out so the ember glows. Stand it in an ash catcher, or push the bare end into a bowl of sand or rice, and open a window a crack — incense is meant to drift, not fill. Never leave it burning unattended; keep it away from curtains, children and pets.

In Tradition

Benzoin (gum benjamin) is tapped from Styrax trees in Southeast Asia and has been burned in temples and churches for centuries; on its own it is one of the gentlest resins there is.
