About the Stone

"Jade" covers two unrelated minerals. Jadeite is the rarer pyroxene — Imperial jade is jadeite — mined chiefly in Myanmar; nephrite is an amphibole. Both are extraordinarily tough, which is why Neolithic cultures made axe heads from them: jade scratches like any stone of its hardness but resists shattering.

Care

Jadeite is tough and can take daily wear: warm water and a soft cloth. Keep it away from strong heat, which can dull the polish. Roll a stretch bracelet on and off rather than pulling it.
